Georgina Writes …….
How quickly we move from one moment in time to another, from one thing to another, one activity to another, it seems like only five minutes ago that we were bathing in the glorious sunshine of summer. Last week my cherry tree was full of leaves, then suddenly almost overnight they are gone! We have had the first frost, gone through All Hallows Eve, All Saints, Remembrance, and are now tumbling into the manic preparation for Christmas thrust at us in the shops and on the TV.
Do we have time to stop and stay in a moment of time, to dwell in it, savour it, discover more of it? Our society makes it quite hard as the culture we are part of wants us to always be moving forward, onto the next thing.
I went on a Pre Advent-Retreat Day recently, where there was time to just sit and ponder, time to be creative too. We were offered the chance to bring away some daily acts of kindness or action for Advent. A different view and focus, in the preparing to remember the silent moment of the Christ child arriving here on earth, God come to be amongst us.
we all take part in creating those acts? Remember the Butterfly Effect, who knows what we could start? For someone it could just be a life changer, for that day, or maybe for the rest of their life. A noting of the need of another and responding to it is indeed a gift, of unknown quality.
In this season, oh so short, of preparation in Advent, maybe random acts of kindness might be a reflection of the love given in the greatest gift sent to earth.
