Church News 3rd December

St Marys Singers
The singers will meet at 6:30 pm on the following Tuesdays 5th and 1th of December, 9th and 23rd January. Anyone who would like to join our group would be very welcome.

Please sign up if you would like to host the family. The list is at the back of the church.

Mother’s Union
Meets at 2:20 pm on Tuesday 5th December, Rev, Judith Abbott, our chaplain, will lead us with readings, prayers and music for Advent through Christmas, followed by a special tea. If you haven’t already given a gift for the women’s refuge there is still time to bring one to the meeting. There are a few single Christmas cards for sale if you need some more. Programmes for next year are now ready.

Flowers for Christmas
Do you have any greenery that could be used to decorate the pillars and windowsills in the Church? If you have any please bring it along on 8th December.

Light up a life Service Sunday 10th December at 3 pm.
A time to remember and give thanks for loved ones who have died. There will be a collection for the work of St Margaret’s Hospice. If you know anyone who may like to come to this service please give them an invitation or just ask them to come along with you.

We would be very grateful if you could donate a cake to be served after this service on 10th December. If you can please let Dot or Michele know.

Rotary “Carols by Candlelight” Wednesday 13th December.
Chard Rotary Club is holding its annual ‘Carols by Candlelight’ service, in St Mary’s Church  at 7:30 pm. Join us in a selection of traditional carols and listen to the children of Manor Court Primary School who will entertain us with their own choice of Christmas music. Admission is free but there will be a collection in aid of Rotary Charities, including the Musgrove Park MRI Scanner Appeal. The evening will finish with mince pies and drinks at the back of the church.

Christmas Services
Can you help with verging and generally being around to help on the following dates and times:

Thursday 21st for the Carol SErvice at 7:00 PM
Sunday 24th December at 4:00 pm and 6:00 pm for the Christingle Services and for the Midnight Service.

Christmas Wrap a Gift
Would you like to buy a Christmas gift for a child to be distributed by the Health Visitors? Please wrap the gift in Christmas paper and attach a label with boy or girl and the age and it is suitable for. Many thanks.
