Church News Week of 25th February 2018

Office Administrator
We are sorry to announce that Office Administrator Gill is leaving us in March due to moving out of the area. we wish her and her family well in the future. Her leaving will create a vacancy for an Office Administrator, which is a part time job (9 hours over 3 days) and is currently funded until the end of September 2018. The role involves undertaking several administrative duties in order to support the clergy in the running of the office, such as booking funerals, weddings, and baptisms and liaising directly with the various parties involved in these, ordering supplies for the office and the church.

If you want to know more about what this role involves please discuss with Georgina Vye. If you decide to apply please email the church with your name and contact details. It is hoped that interviews can be held before Gill leaves us. Thanks Kath.

Mother’s Union
The M.U. Deanery A.G.M. is on Monday 26th February at 10:00 for 10:30 am in the Minister Rooms. There will be a speaker on homelessness, also literature and bring and buy stalls. Tea/Coffee with bring and share lunch. This is open to everyone. Please ask if you would like a lift. Many thanks. Heather

Lent Lunches 2018
We will be serving Lent Lunches in St Marys Centre on the five Mondays of Lent: 19th February to 19th March inclusive, Soup and a Roll (Vegetarian option available), Coffee/Tea and Biscuits. Donations, after expenses, will be sent to support the work of Christian Aid. Please come along, and invite your friends.

Women’s World Day of Prayer is on Friday 2nd March. The theme is caring for our creation – a lovely service has been written by the people of Suriname in South America. Chard Churches Together services are at Combe St Nicholas Methodist at 2:30 pm and the Catholic Church in Chard at 7:00 pm. All are welcome including men.

Saturday Coffee@St Marys
The next coffee morning is on Saturday 3rd March. Heather would like donations of cakes and any raffle items please. If you are able to help on the day please contact Heather and let her know. Thank you.

Christian Aid
There will be a sponsored knit for Christian Aid on Thursday 8th March from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm in the Methodist Church foyer.If you would like to sponsor Iris there is a form on the table in Church which you can fill in or If you would like to knit and be sponsored please see Patricia about obtaining a form.

Flower Ladies
There will be a meeting on Friday March 9th at 10.30 am in Church to sort out who wants to do what for Easter decorations in the Church. Church flowers to be done on Saturday 31st March.

Wambrook are having a flower festival in June. If anybody is interested in helping out or even doing some flowers for the event please contact Maureen so that a meeting can be arranged with the ladies from Wambrook.   Thank you

Flowers for Mothering Sunday. 
We are looking for donations of any small greenery and flowers which can be made into small bunches for the ladies in our Church. They will need to be made up on Saturday 10th March between 10:00 am and 12 noon. All volunteers are welcome. Many thanks everyone.

St Mary’s Singers
The singers will meet at the church from 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm on March 13th and 27th and April 24th. Anyone who would like to sing with our friendly group will be very welcome.

Preparing for Easter
As we get ready for Easter we have wondered if anyone would like to donate £2 to buy a lily in memory of a loved one which will be put into flower decorations of the Church. Please contact Maureen who will collect money and take names which will be recorded in Church and the Church magazine. Closing date to order and pay is 18th March.
