What Matters? Who Cares?

As a deanery we are working towards a Mission event (14-18 May 2018) when we will have Bishop Ruth with us for the week. It’s called Telling our Story and is focused around people telling the story of how Jesus is made real in our towns and villages.

Our main preparation evening is with Bishop Ruth on 5 March. We are welcoming over 100 people to the Shrubbery Hotel, Ilminster for an evening called ‘What Matters? Who Cares?’ Accompanied by a wide range of people drawn from across the community we will hear about what matters and who is doing the caring in areas of schools, farming and rural communities, business and industry, community cohesion, public services.

We are doing this with the aim of building up the churches’ confidence to tell the story of Jesus. It will create a moment of alignment and focus in naming where we see God is at work in our communities and also raise the profile of our churches in the community.

Please pray for us as we embark on this new initiative.

Gracious God, may your Holy Spirit guide us unto the future.  Help us, throughout the deanery, to show uninhibited reliance on your grace and power as we seek renewal of our lives.  Give us courage, rigour, imagination and generosity in order that your kingdom may come and your abundant life be known by all.  Amen

The Revd Nigel Done
Rural Dean
